I. Briefing — Have a stroll.
Prison Game 2026 is bringing you something completely different. This time, rather than being challenged over and over in prison, you are now set into the yard on a capture spree.
You will be given quests. You will photograph the quests. You will submit the evidences privately. You will earn points. Much like a scavenger hunt — except that you do not need to physically bring an object — just photograph these interesting moments.
The biggest change this year is that we have eliminated the feature of elimination, so no one is kicked out for falling behind, but there will also be no mercy in the scoring — your submissions are judged without appeal. Points are tallied internally, and players will only see 2 groups of names each quarter. What do these groups offer? Keep reading.
Read this booklet carefully, as it is a summary extracted from the official full rules document — the final authority. Should you dare to test it, we will cite it against you. You may find the full rule document in the appendix.
II. How to Play — What gets you burnt.
- No generative AI. Any submission produced, altered, or fabricated by generative AI results in an immediate ban from the remainder of the game. No second chances. If the photo was not captured by your own camera, do not submit it.
- Non-intervened occurrences only. You may not directly or indirectly stage, manipulate, bring, or create the subject. The universe must have already provided what you are photographing.
- Permitted locations only. Streets, sidewalks, roads, schools, classrooms... anywhere the general public is usually lawfully allowed to be. Your home, dorm, or any private residence is off-limits. The subject must be in a permitted location, and you must be standing in one when you take the photo.
- Every photo is yours. The photos must have the timestamp of when the photo was taken and your Discord username watermark. Don’t forget to blur every sensitive info, such as the faces of passers-by, licence plates, and house address plates.
- Don’t over-play it. The quests are meant to be attempted when and where it is safe. Therefore, we will only accept photos taken during 7am – 10pm in your local time (but you may upload it anytime).
Also, abide by the legislation where you attempt each quest. Do not do anything that puts you at legal or physical risk, like trespassing or climbing for a good filming spot, etc.
- One quest per submission. Upload 1 quest at a time. Make sure the photo is attached to the message where you declare which quest it is. Unless specified otherwise, only a maximum of 1 photo allowed for each quest.
III. Structure — Quarters and calculation days.
This year, the game lasts for 28 days, and is further split into 4 quarters of 7 days. Quarters begin when new quests drop.
The first 24 hours of a new quarter is the calculation day. In the meantime, no new quest submissions are allowed, because older ones are being, well, calculated. This is a good window for you to review the newly dropped quests and interrogate us about them — you’ll need it.
You may want to attempt older quests from previous quarters, sure, but only if you have a valid submission from that quarter. As in, it is Q2, and you want to attempt an unattempted quest from Q1; then you must have another quest from Q1 that you did attempt and was considered valid. Too confusing? No worries, you will need only to know about this if you have joined late, skipped a quarter, or completely failed all the quests you did from that quarter.
-
Quarter 1
- The 1st batch of quests drop.
- The game officially begins.
- On 29th of Nov 2026 (GMT+8)

-
Quarter 4
- The 4th batch of quests drop.
- Calculate results of Q3.

IV. How to Play Pro — Know your quests.
Quests can have properties that directly affect their difficulty and ubiquity. Some are obvious; others require careful examination. But fear not, as properties are shared across quests — uncover a single rule, and you gain insight into all the rest. Below are a few to exemplify, and beware that properties can stack.
As for the rest, ask and find out! We respond to relevant questions with yes or no, and optionally with an additional secret info if deemed necessary.
Any submission that did not meet our expectations is a straight loss, so make sure you extract as much detail as possible.
- Static: A fixed number. The quest is worth exactly this. You can easily tell how much points you are bringing home.
- Dynamic: A range. Your score lives somewhere between the brackets. How much you will get is not necessarily guaranteed.
- Ranked: Your submission is compared with others’ based on how much or how completed etc it is. Score depends entirely on where you land.
- Tier: Do the base, then work your way to complete the sequential conditions in order. You can just upload the photo with the deepest reached.
- Set: The more you find, the more you earn. This is the only property that allows more than 1 attachment, with each item in their own photo.
V. How to Join — Come on board.
To join the game, complete and submit a quest from the entrance quests, then upload your submission to #👀-share-anything, along with the following information all in 1 message:
- The quest you have attempted
- Your region flag emoji[1]
- “I have read through the rules.”
#pg26
An attachment of the photograph you took to complete the said quest. The subject in photograph must be fully visible, easily recognisable, and consists of no sensitive private information. The photo must have the timestamp of photographing and your Discord user name as watermark.
And that’s it! Then you wait for validation. Once you pass, you will gain access to the real quests and get your own private thread, where you will be submitting those quest attempts. A reminder that during the calculation day, no submissions can be uploaded, but you can still attempt for quests.
By submitting your entrance quest attempt, you agree to the rules, swear to play with full honesty, and consent to the host displaying some of your submissions with proper credit for post-game related projects and archive documents.
Your Discord profile picture, user name, and the flag of your region[1] will be displayed on our official leaderboard page, which is publicly accessible on the Internet. Please make sure you are comfortable with these information being disclosed online before you enter the game.
Note 1: Due to technical limitations, we can only display region flags supported by Unicode. Should you prefer not to represent your specific region, you may opt to play under the “Earth” flag.
VI. Rewards — Top half, bottom half.
Every calculation day, you are sorted into one of 2 groups by cumulative points. The result list is published alphabetically with no ranks nor totals for anyone to see. You receive rewards based on your group.
Rewards cannot be carried over to future quarters. They must be used within the quarter you received it.
If a bonus or catch-up quest was not attempted or the submission thereof was invalid, you may not reattempt it in the next quarter. The same applies to boosters, if you do not have at least 2 valid submissions for the booster to apply to, it will expire.
- Top 50% (PR ≥ 50): Players at the top 50%, including the 50th percentile, will receive either a bonus quest — which is highly rewarding yet challenging — or a booster that multiplies the points of the 2nd least valuable valid quest submission on the next calculation day, decided at random.
- Bottom 50% (PR < 50): Players at the bottom 50%, excluding the 50th percentile, don’t give up! We provide everyone the same identical catch-up quest.
A. Entrance Quests.

- A stuffed plushie.
- A staircase.
- Any flower pot.
- A bird on a fire hydrant.
- A bench at the park.
- A poster on a green bulletin.
- The moon.
B. Full Rules Document.
The full rules document of “The Capture” is written, reviewed, and approved by its original creators, ZTAKH.LOL. It is the final authority on every question the game can raise. Where it conflicts with any guide, summary, or announcement made before or during the game, this document prevails.
Disputes are settled by citation. The host holds sole discretion over interpretation, but that discretion is exercised within this document, never outside it.
The rules document follows the convention of BCP 14Opens in new tab [RFC2119Opens in new tab] [RFC8174Opens in new tab], where capitalised keywords enforce an obligation, as follows:
- MUST, SHALL: An absolute requirement.
- MUST NOT, SHALL NOT: A definite prohibition.
- MAY: A permission to do something or not.
The rules are also written in the hierarchy of “Article—Paragraph—Item.” C for chapter, A for article, P for paragraph, and I for item.
